Ways to Save Money

Saving money can be difficult when you don't have much in the first place. Some money saving tips take money in order to save money. I know this doesn't make sense, but he end results do save you money. For instance, making your own laundry soap means you will have to buy a few different products. Each item doesn't cost that much, but it is more money that you have to initially spend.

Try buying the items one or two at a time. Once you have them, they last longer than buying the store bought products. When making laundry soap it depends on the recipe that you follow, but you usually need to buy a bar of Fels Naptha soap, Washing soda (not baking soada) and Borax. All of theses items are in the laundry section of walmart and will cost around $10.00 dollars to buy, but they will last a long time. If you use the recipe here at the Duggar Family's site, you can make 10 gallons of liquid detergent and still have some Borax and Washing Soda left for another batch. If you don't like the Duggar Family recipe, you can look on the internet for more. There are a lot of laundry detergent recipes out there.

Here are more ways that you can save money:

  • Make your own cleaning supplies. Pinterest as a lot of pins on homemade cleaning products. They are easy and inexpensive to make. Most of the ingredients are most likely already in your home.
  • Add water to dish liquid to make it last longer. I have added half water and half dish soap when times are rough and it works just as well as straight dish soap.
  • Make your own hair and Beauty products. You can find all kinds of recipes on moisturizing creams, hair treatments and even makeup. Just start searching and see what you can find.
  • Use Bing's search engine to search things on the internet. You can earn points for every search you do. The points can be turned in for awards like, amazon gift cards. You won't get rich doing this, but it can help. I have earned a total of $13 dollars in amazon gift cards before. It doesn't sound like much, but it can help.
  • Save money on groceries by looking at the grocery ads and then looking for coupons that go along with the sales. This can be very time consuming, but can be worth the effort.
  • Separate bananas to make them last longer. This really works and I found out by accident. I had a put a banana in my sons lunch box and then he didn't need the lunch. I forgot about the it and it sat in the bucket for several days. When I went to make a new lunch the banana looked fine, but the bunch of bananas that it had come from looked awful.
  • Freeze left over fruit right before it goes bad. You can use frozen fruit in homemade smoothies.
  • Make soup beans for dinner. Soup beans are very inexpensive and you can add any meat to it that you want. I have used ham, bacon and smoked sausage. You could even use the ham bone from the freezer that you saved after Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner. You don't necessarily have to use chunks of meat, you can just flavor it with a ham bone. Ham hocks are usually cheap to0, you can also use those. If you don't have any meat or bone to add, make them without it and add onion, lots of butter and some seasonings. Beans are very versatile.
If you have any tips to add, just let me know. I would be happy to add them to the list.
